At Animal Emergency Center of Sandy Springs, we're looking for an experienced veterinary professional who is ready to make an impact in a fast-paced Emergency Veterinary environment. Whether you're a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), experienced Veterinary Technician, or Veterinary Assistant with strong emergency experience, you'll have the opportunity to use your skills, expand your clinical knowledge, and work alongside a team that values collaboration and excellent patient care.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced veterinary professional looking for a consistent weekend schedule, meaningful hands-on emergency experience, and a team where your contributions matter.
Your Schedule
- Full-time
- Friday - Sunday
- 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- Consistent 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week

What You'll Do
As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you'll provide hands-on patient care while supporting veterinarians during emergency cases, procedures, and treatments.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform patient triage and assist with emergency assessments
- Obtain patient histories and monitor changes in patient condition
- Perform venipuncture, blood collection, and IV catheter placement
- Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as directed
- Perform in-house laboratory diagnostics and prepare samples for reference laboratories
- Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical and emergency procedures
- Support emergency treatments and patient recovery
- Assist with radiology and diagnostic imaging
- Maintain accurate medical records and treatment sheets
- Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and clients
- Provide compassionate support to patients and their families during emergency situations
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced veterinary professional who can confidently contribute to a busy emergency environment.
Required:
- 2+ years of veterinary clinical experience
- Experience in Emergency, Urgent Care, Specialty, or high-volume General Practice
- Strong foundation in veterinary nursing and patient care
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
- Dependable, adaptable, and committed to teamwork
Strong candidates will have experience with:
- Emergency triage and patient assessment
- Venipuncture and blood collection
- IV catheter placement
- Medication administration and fluid therapy
- Anesthesia monitoring
- In-house laboratory diagnostics
- Patient monitoring and nursing care
LVT credentials are preferred, but not required. Experienced Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants with strong emergency, urgent care, specialty, or high-volume clinical experience are encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This position requires working in a busy emergency veterinary hospital where patient care is the highest priority.
Qualified candidates should be able to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and remain active throughout extended shifts
- Safely restrain dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently, with assistance available for heavier patients
- Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail
- Work around animal dander, fur, odors, cleaning products, disinfectants, medications, and laboratory materials
- Safely work around animal waste, bodily fluids, blood, sharps, and infectious diseases while following hospital safety protocols
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Respond quickly and safely to changing patient and hospital needs in a fast-paced emergency environment
