Description
My People Person has partnered with a growing Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Technology Design firm in DFW, and is seeking a RCDD Lead Designer. We are seeking an RCDD with 8–10 years of experience designing structured cabling and telecommunications systems.
This role requires a seasoned professional capable of leading design efforts, managing projects, and interfacing directly with clients to deliver high-quality, compliant, and efficient communication infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership:
Lead the design of comprehensive low-voltage systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC) and client specifications. Experience with the following systems:
- Structured Cabling
- Audio-Video Systems
- Intercom/PA Systems
- Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)
- Intrusion Detection
- Access Control
- Nurse Call Systems
- Video Surveillance
- Data room layouts, including racks and cable trays
- Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and documentation for technology infrastructure projects.
Project Management:
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing all phases from design through construction, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless project execution.
Client Interaction:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their needs and providing expert guidance on communication infrastructure solutions.
- Conduct site surveys and evaluations to determine design requirements and feasibility.
Team Leadership:
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior designers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
- Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring efficient workload distribution and professional development opportunities for team members.
Quality Assurance:
Review and approve design documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Conduct inspections and tests to verify the quality and performance of installed systems.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred.
- Active Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification is required.
- 8–10 years of experience in the design and management of structured cabling and telecommunications systems.
- Proven experience in leading design efforts and managing projects in a client-facing role.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Visio.
- Strong understanding of cabling standards and best practices (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC).
- Familiarity with current codes and technologies pertinent to telecommunications and building technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
