Join the Dallas Public Library Team!

We're looking for librarians with training in children's services for several branch libraries in the City of Dallas. Children's librarians at DPL have the opportunity to be part of systemwide initiatives and take on leadership roles.

In addition to being part of the branch operations, children's librarians are also expected to:

• Serve as youth services subject matter expert and team lead in assigned location.
• Assess the programming needs for children and teens
• Develop and implement programs for children and families 
• Participate in planning and coordinating systemwide youth services programs and initiatives, including serving on work teams. 
• Ensure that the designated children’s area is well-maintained and arranged to optimize use by children and their families 
• Train coworkers in best practices for library services to children 
• Provide readers advisory for children and their parents 
• Facilitate the summer reading and learning program 
• Coordinate and plan outreach to schools, early learning centers and other children’s organizations
